This is actually my second attempt at a blog. I created another one after attending a workshop about a year ago. Heaven knows where it is! I may have deleted it when I changed jobs.
I'm not sure I agree that blogging can be addictive (but I never kept a diary as a kid, either, so I may be strange) but I do see a value to it as an easy way to provide up to date information to users. The question is whether we want users to be able to post, too. My initial thought is that vandals are a very real possiblity (too many years of unruley frat boys) But I might be convinced. I wonder if there are any academic libraries with open blogs?
So far, the technology is easy. We'll see how the next few weeks progress.

Welcome to the blogosphere! I don't know if any academic libraries have 'open' blogs but I think many reserver the right to moderate comments. So a user posts and then someone has to approve it before it is viewable by the public. I'll look into it....
I have about 6 diaries/journals at my parents house with around 3-4 entries in each of them. I am really bad about blogging and journaling, but finding it's easier now since I type around 80wpm... Much better than hand writing things!
